“Night of Patmos”

In the 1st century AD, John the Apostle was exiled to the island of Patmos, where he received a multitude of images bestowed by God, visions that exceeded the scope of his personal experience. The resulting text, the Book of Revelation, is his written depiction of these uncanny visions.

The film incorporates several types of material: a one-act play featuring improvisational performances of the Bible by theatre actors; and old photographs personally collected and re-edited by me. These photographs, entirely focused on stage design and theatrical performance, weave through the film’s entire narrative.

The story is narrated in the style of an old radio drama monologue, depicting scenes of a charismatic group in South Korea gathering on a mountain for prayer, transitioning from a tranquil, relaxed atmosphere to one of frenzied extremism.

《拔摩岛的夜》

公元1世纪使徒约翰被流放到拔摩岛，并在此接受上帝赐予众多超出他经验范围的图像，圣经第66卷启示录部分的经文便是，他以文字形式描绘的这些异样的图像。

影片中分有着几类素材，有对于舞台剧演员即兴表演圣经的独幕剧，有我个人收藏和再编辑的老照片，这些照片全部围绕舞台设计与舞台表演，贯穿整个片子的故事，以旧式广播剧独白的方式配音，故事描绘了韩国某个灵恩派团体上山聚会祷告，从幽静轻松到狂热极端的场景。
